Check out what students at CSULB are wearing to class! 

What's popular in streetwear today?  Let's see what students at California State University Long Beach wore to class! Walking around campus each student had a unique style.  I chose to interview David Bonilla.  He's a fashion design student and is from Cerritos.  He had accents of streetwear from every era, he had influences from 90s streetwear, early 2000s and present.  He incorporated a snapback with a fitted knit top and oversized wide leg denim cargo pants.  To add on, he wore a Telfar duffel bag and high top Jordans.  Streetwear fashion comes in many forms and has been very trendy.  He purchased his clothing from fashion nova, Nike and Zara.  I created a moodboard of the clothing he wore to inspire everyone to be creative and always be confident in what you wear.  Streetwear has a strong history of New York hip hop and Californian surf culture, it encompasses many elements such as grunge, sportswear and skateboarding.  Next week we'll continue to see elements of streetwear and its impact on people.

What's Your Vibe ?

Esma  : "Hi! Tell us your name and where are you from?" 

        David : "I'm David Bonilla and I'm from Cerritos, California." 

Esma : "Awesome! I saw you walking and I loved your outfit tell us a little bit about where you got it and your inspiration?" 

        David : "My inspiration forsure is Y2K grunge.  I love dark colors.  And I got this hat from a strip mall in my city.  The glasses are from the Realreal, Versace. I made this necklace and then the top is from Zara. The bag is Telfar, love the Telfeezy.  The pants are Fashionnova and shoes my brothers closet, Nike." 

Esma : "I love how you matched the silver from your shoes to your necklace.  Everything looks so well thought-out.  I have to ask whats your favorite trend in streetwear for 2024? " 

        David : "My favorite trend would have to be baggy jeans. Never the skinnies.  Always baggy" 

Esma : "Awesome! thank you so much for letting me interview you. " 

        David : "Thank you!"

Weekly Moodboard! 

    Davids styles radiates streetwear and grunge.  Every piece was very well thought out and was cohesive.  His outfit reminded me of a mixture of the early 2000's and 90's because of this use of Jordans and metallics.  This category of fashion has been very popular and seen more often.  I've noticed that in clothing wide leg cargo denim pants have been very popular and as for an accessory snapbacks have been taking over once again.   

    My moodboard consists of the clothing seen on David and his accessories.  I also attached artists, locations and accessories that I feel are inspirational.  Check this photos out! Hope this gave you inspiration on your next outfit:)
